Entrance Counseling
Congratulations on your decision to further your education! Because you have decided to borrow a student loan to help pay for your educational costs, it is important that you are aware of the long-term effects of borrowing money for education. As a first-time student loan borrower, entrance counseling is required to help you do just that!
Entrance counseling can be administered in different ways by different schools:
- In-person counseling with your financial aid advisor, in a classroom setting or one-on-one.
- Online entrance counseling through Mapping Your Future. OR
- MDHE Loan Counseling workbook, which requires you to complete an Entrance Counseling Verification form.
Your school's financial aid office will let you know which method they prefer. Remember, your school must receive verification that you have completed an entrance counseling session before any loan funds may be disbursed to you.
