College Access Challenge Grant

The College Access Challenge Grant program (CACGP) is a two-year formula grant program that was created as part of the College Cost Reduction and Access Act (CCRA) of 2007(CFDA 84.031C). The purpose of the College Access Challenge Grant program is to support states in helping students and families to learn about, prepare for, and finance a postsecondary education. The department will use the grant to implement a three-pronged approach aimed at increasing the rates of Missourians who attend and succeed in higher education.

• Financial Literacy: Develop and distribute financial literacy information to Missouri high school students.

• Web-based Financial Information: Develop an online destination for students and families to learn about academic preparation, application and entrance requirements, online tools and calculators depicting costs, and likely sources for financial assistance.

• Competitive Grant: Conduct a grant program to build and strengthen outreach activities offered by non-profit organizations that assist Missouri students and families in preparing for higher education.

APPLYING FOR A COMPETITIVE GRANT

If your organization is interested in submitting an application to receive a grant under the competetive grant program operated by the MDHE, use the following link to download a copy of the Request for Proposal (RFP) document which contains information about program structure and applicant eligiblity. Keep in mind the deadline for the submission of a completed proposal is June 30, 2009. In addition, you must submit a letter of intent to submit a proposal by June 15, 2009 in order to be considered.
